Trolli and its innovative candy dominate the Sweet and Snacks Expo awards
By Cristine Struble —
Candy fans love Trolli and its weirdly awesome world. From super fans, like James Harden, to pop culture tie-ins, like last year’s Dead Pool Tiny Hands, Trolli makes its own path in the candy industry. At this year’s Sweets and Snacks Expo, the National Confectioners Association awarded the brand two of the industry’s top honors. For the consumer, these awards mean that these candies will be on your must eat list.
Earning the “Best in Show” award was the Sour Brite Crunchy Crawlers. While these candies were unable to taste at the show, the candy is described as a gummy worm with a thin, crunchy texture.
Basically, the Trolli’s gummy worm is encased in this thing shell. The shell is said to be thinner than the NERDS Big Chewy Candy that was a huge hit last year.
This candy innovation shows how consumers are wanting a combination of textures in candy. The slight crunch to the outer shell combined with the chewy center increases satisfaction.
Additionally, the Sour Brite Crunchy Crawlers feature popular flavors. The combinations are “watermelon/strawberry, orange/raspberry and cherry/lemon flavor.” In a way, it is the perfect combination of sweet and tang in each bite.
The new Sour Brite Crunchy Crawlers will be available in December 2019.
Also, Trolli received the best “seasonal” award for its Sour Brite Candy Corn. While candy corn is a classic Halloween candy, many people have a love/hate relationship with it. This new version takes that classic Halloween candy to a whole new level.
The Sour Brite Candy Corn has the classic candy corn shape but combines the Sour Brite flavors. The flavor combination are “lemon/cherry, orange/lime and grape/strawberry.” It will definitely have people re-thinking candy corn.
These new innovations for Trolli are just a few of the many new candy offerings from the Ferrera Candy Company. Look for other new candies coming from SweeTARTS, NERDS, and more.
